The Volvo's only about 1350kg! 120bhp is a bit weak but the turbo, low gearing and torque give it a fair shove. It's quick for an old diesel, I should have said.

Does the Commodore have a stuck viscous fan? I removed the Volvo's one and it sounds a lot better now. Should really sort out an electric replacement, instead of 'no fan/heater on max up steep hills'. Luckily there's no traffic here.

I painted the grille centre satin black and handily broke the clips for the badge. I like the 'egg crate' grilles but they're £50 with OSV/VOC tax.

The Volvo's done a lot of work recently, aside from hauling 150kg* of oak barrel staves for firewood, it took me down to Kent and back, a trip of 1600 miles, all on waste vegetable oil and misfuel.
It's great on long journeys, with the comfiest seats ever and a cushiony ride. At 65-75MPH on the motorway it does about 40MPG which seems OK.

The rear brakes started to grind on the way down the road.

There's your problem. I think they were the original pads and everything was seized and rusty. One of the pistons might be stuck in. Oh, and the front nearside caliper is sticking. Low mileage shite.

Spotted some scrapyard kittens in a pub landlord-spec Jaguar when I went to source some barely better calipers.

*ignores car content, squees about kittens instead* Those kittens look like they have more than a hint of Bengal markings about them.

I have heard that.

Still, a good DERV smoke-out is always jolly good fun. If I've done some town pottering in my Bavarian, it's a good crack to them dawdle onto the motorway and then stick the hammer down. 320lb/ft unleashes a jolly good belch of soot.... :D

Second gear starts are best for GASSING following cars in the Volvosaurus. :D
320 lb/ft and offensiveness sounds appealing, I will look at them when they are £500.
