Donington Historic Festival - Moto-Scat go racing!

I only took my rubbish camera, but here's a sampling of what's available here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tonetoneto ... 410058955/ to tide you over until Seth and IKB post some decent pictures. Mostly stuff I don't think the other two will have got. To sum up, pre-war GP cars are the loudest thing in the universe and my new favourite thing.

Tragically, the Pre-66 race was cut short, and was to be the final race, after a collision between the number 67 Mini of Christian Devereux and one of the mustangs resulted in the death of Mr Devereux. There's not much that can be said about that really, apart from RIP and obviously I'm sure all of MS residents thoughts are with his family & friends.

Very sad that the day came to a close on such a tragic note, as up to then everything had been BRILLIANT.
I am pleased to say this has to be the best boring old car event I have ever attended. A superb mix of pretty much everything.
Just downloading my shizzle now, but may expire from sunstroke before posting them tonight...

PS - I saw the baby blue TR4 being trailered home on the A1. And the green IMP from the hill was making good progress under it's on steam too...

Very sad that such a good day's racing came to end in such a manner. Had been utterly superb until then.

The actual race photos will have to wait a while as it'll take me ages to sort out my favourites but here's a selection of what was seen in the paddock and club areas, with a bonus car park spot on the way out.

Elite was one of several in attendance.

Image

POINTY and UGGERS in one neat pairing.

Image

Morgan SLS (I think)

Image

Image

These are not the prizes I was thinking of.

Image

Dunno when/where the karts were racing.

Image

I scream.

Image

There was the biggest gathering of these Z cars I think I have ever seen. Most impressive.

Image

Image

Stange man strangely attracted to Bedford.

Image

YES! Often. Repeatedly.

Image

Image

Walked past this Facel on our way out.

Image

And from the car park, this honey had appeared a few cars along from us.

Videos:

Hopefully worth a watch for the noise alone. Tiny playskool camera on full zoom with fast cars does not a steady image make...

Pre-66 Touring cars early on (nearly all of them):

Some of Ayrton Senna's old cars cruising round (if you like that sort of thing):

PRE WAR GP (Turn speakers up/don giant headphones, etc)

Shaky Cortina:

3-wheeling mini (not that you can see from this):
