Uxbridge Autoshow

Postby Seth » Mon Jul 20, 2015 11:19 am

I've really cut down on the number of 'traditional' park in a field car shows I go to. Haven't been to Uxbridge for a couple of years I guess but it is reasonably local, entrance fees go to good causes and the weather was looking OK so we headed down for a few hours.

I parked next to this, which probably got more attention than anything else throughout the time we were there. It is full of really cool details.

Image

Tastefully modified VWs.

Image

Best actual hubcaps.

Image

Allegros. I particularly liked the one with the bodykit which made it look like a bloated modern car instead of a bloated old car.

Image

Now, I do wonder if the owner of this P6 suffers from hot engine temps

Image

Hang on, they're all at it.

Image

Image

Nice Austin truck. Shame about the fake diamond plate floor mats.

Image

Image

Just add 69

Image

Best Ice Cream van. I'm not actually sure what it is.

Image

FEC

Image

Not sure if the blacked out wheels/caps on this were a povo trim spec?

Image

Re-sprayed but otherwise original Escort.

Image

U R DOIN WHEELS RONG

Image

This looked great on TR7 wheels.

Image

Image

Sitting there in his stripy chair like a boss. That's 'cos he is a boss. He has a PC Cresta ESTATE.

Image

Jonny 6.9

Image

Image

Other than the fact that it is not red, has tyres that are too small and minilights, this is just like the one the Woodwork technician had at school

Image

U R STILL DOIN WHEELS RONG

Image

Smart stripes.

Image

This looked great in is Chrysler parts livery

Image

Phwooar! Near stock S110R

Image

There were A LOT of very low (airbagged) BMWs.

Image

Image

This MGA had a really good old feel.

Image

Look at those losers totally ignoring the magnificent wire wheels on this Escort.

Image

Mini Gem had a row of about ten matching but unmarked switches across the dash. I have been trying to think of ten possible accessories you could fit into it.

Image

Image

Image

Smart Italian tin.

Image

Pretty sure I've photographed this before.

Image

Euro Granada

Image

And that's your lot. Shame the autojumble is a tiny shadow of its former self. The chair I sit on for work consists of a bucket seat I bought there for £1 some years ago cos the chap didn't want to take it home. Probably only about a dozen car related stalls now, and lots of car boot sale tat. Still a decent turn out of cars and the usual variety (and loads of Fords).

Awesome. :D Love the colour match on that beige Astra front wing. Bet it came like that from the factory or something.

Scrolled past this too quickly and was all WTF until second look revealed TWO red cars, rather than one bizzare bug-eyed, curly-cab'd Triumph pick-up.

Hmm. Anyone got a spare 2CV bodyshell?

Go-faster stripe on the Astra was quality.

Agreed, and I would never have guessed what those alloys were if you hadn't said it. Painted like that, they look like Exactons or one of the less common style of Dunlops.

I've also cut back on the field shows purely because I'm up to my armpits in E21 suspension and quite frankly paying money to see the same cars again and again (like the row of Triumph Slaaaaaags at every show) gets a tad tiresome.
But thats not a bad turnout; the M40-powered 105E I saw at Wheels Day and could not take my eyes off it, while I'm guessing the ice cream van is based on a Morris LD chassis, judging by the wheels.
