Bedfordshire Show Weekender "Best of"

Postby Dan » Mon Jun 11, 2012 12:39 pm

I managed to get to two localish shows over the weekend, starting off with this Saturday do in the grounds of Dunstable Priory which was mainly typical show fodder but contained a few vehicles of interest.

It seems a scatty Bedford CA camper is becoming a rarer sight nowadays with the majority of examples now having over the top restorations, so this very original example with a mild smattering of surface rust and poor paint touch ups was excellent to see.

I think you've probably seen this before as it attends many shows in the Beds/Herts/Bucks area- stonkingly clean.

Now onto yesterday's Festival of Transport, which was a last minute decision to go ahead due to the forecast and fortunately ended up a mostly dry day.

This was a one family owned from new car which probably isn't that surprising really

Good stuff Dan. Nice to see yet another RHD Fiat 850 berlina. I think the Vanguard panel van is my favourite, not sure I'd be able to resist lowering it a bit if it were mine though (sorry).
Hoow do I go to my thread ? How do I find my forum ? Howdo I go to the page I am typing?

Very much liking that CA, along with the A-S and the various Standards, especially the estates. Always good to see the unusual / rare stuff :)

Btw, if that Amazon wagon is the one I think it is, I believe it's actually in very good shape aside from the paint. The mismatched front panel work is due to an accident, the repairs for which (including pulling the nose back into shape) were covered in some detail over on the Volvo OC forum.

Pity I couldn't get to Luton in the end. That line up of Vanguards would have been worth the journey alone. That Mk1 2 door Cavalier must be super rare. Presumably the 2 doors were povo spec? It ertainly looks basic. I think out neighbours when I was a small child had one. Certainly a Mk1 Cavalier and seeing that photo has nudged a memory.

I think it is 'that' Amazon Paul. And I think the chap sitting in it might be Jon 'Jean Luc' Ricard who has always been heavily involved in Amazons. Knew him for the UK Kustoms days.

Was that the chap you introduced me to once at the Ace, who built a stunning chopped Amazon (two door but using a four door to get the proportions right)?
