Surely the best* course of action is to find a VW beetle chassis to put the body onto while retaining the landrover ID.

Seriously though, top purchace. I almost want to get another hopeless old landie now.

I *PROMISE* I was joking.

I've always wanted a 3 seater landy but they've never been and never will be cheap enough for me. Will swap for SPC etc.

Careful what you wish for ;)
I think that while there are some eye-wateringly expensive old trucks out there, a poke about does turn up stuff like this. I mean this is the most expensive one so far, but still probably no more than a SPC.
Should never have got rid of my £400 lwb though. That was TEH BEST.

Do the window frames on the doors unbolt? If so, do so, remove hardtop & rear door, fit drop down tailgate, relocate spare tyre, & then fold the screen flat. Keep at normal ride height and enjoy 8-)

I agree with everything said so far. That is 96% what an old Landie should be and had me lusting for one for nearly a whole minute.

If it starts and runs and there aren't any untoward noises, how realistically knacked can the engine be? If you don't want to risk the other one then you could always give it a weekend rebuild with just a new seal or go a bit further and add rings and bearings. I'd be inclined to risk the other one, then splash out a bit on the steering bits so it drives top notch. For a Landie.

Well then.
After careful consideration, I decided that as lovely as these things are, without parting with some serious £, this one would never be ~very~ useable.
So this morning it departed my ownership with some bearded gentlemen from the north for a new life.

Needless to say, I didn't do too badly out of the whole deal ;)
And likely that next week a very different 4x4 animal will be arriving....
